COURSE FOR TEACHERS OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (TEFL)
1. CELTA - Certificate in English Language Teaching to AdultsBell runs courses for the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). The CELTA is the most highly regarded and widely recognised qualification for new English language teachers. Ideal for: persons who want to become a teacher of English as a Foreign Language. If you want to become a teacher of English as a Foreign Language, you need a recognised, practical qualification to get you started and to help you find a good job with a reputable employer. All Bell tutors who work on CELTA programmes are qualified teacher trainers with a wide experience of teaching in the UK and abroad. Some of them are also Assessors for the Cambridge English Language Teaching qualifications. Many of our courses include more hours of tuition/supervision than the minimum required, improving your chances of success. Course overview This is an introductory course for people who have little or no previous experience of teaching English. It is also a very useful course for teachers who have been teaching for some years but have obtained no formal qualification. The primary focus of the course is on the basic techniques of English language teaching and their practical application in the classroom. Who is eligible to apply? CELTA regulations require all trainees to have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education. At Bell, our course participants vary widely in experience, education and age. Most have a university degree (or another further/higher education qualification) in addition to a fluent standard of English which enables them to cope with the demanding nature of the course, and teach effectively. COURSE FOR PRIMARY TEACHERS
1. Language and Methodology (Primary)Develops general language skills, and provides practical ideas and new techniques for teaching English to young learners aged 5 - 11 years.
Who is the course for?Practising teachers of English who are working at primary level (children aged 5 - 12) who want to improve their own English language competence and learn new techniques and activities for the teaching of English. Language level: participants should have an intermediate level of English or above.

Language ImprovementThis component focuses on the development of the four language skills with a particular emphasis on the key skills of listening and speaking. There'll also be plenty of opportunities to widen the range of your vocabulary and improve your pronunciation. There'll be some remedial work according to the needs of the group. Teaching Techniques Participants will be able to experience new techniques designed to help students acquire language and discuss their effectiveness and ways of adapting them to fit in with different teaching contexts. COURSE FOR SECONDARY/ TERTIARY TEACHERS1. Language Development and Contemporary Teaching Techniques Combines language skills development with contemporary teaching techniques that can be used in a variety of different teaching contexts
Who is the course for?Practising teachers of English who are working at secondary level or higher. Participants should be at Common European Framework language level of B2 or above.

SPECIALIST COURSE1. Content and Language Integrated LearningThe course aims to explore the theoretical background to content and language integrated teaching and see which models operate best in different contexts. Who is the course for? Primary and Secondary school teachers who teach their subjects (Science, Maths, History, Geography, Arts and Crafts etc) through the medium of English or who are likely to do so in the near future. Teachers should have a language level competence equivalent to the Council of Europe B2 level or above. Course Aims The course aims to explore the theoretical background to content and language integrated teaching and see which models operate best in different contexts. There will also be practical sessions which will help participants develop their presentations skills in English and look at issues such as specialist vocabulary teaching, exploiting texts in an interactive way and making best use of published materials. Participants will be invited to critically evaluate published materials used in UK schools. There will also be an exploration of relevant websites. There will be a special focus on classroom English.
